LIJSL Information – The Long Island Junior soccer League has been receiving inquires concerning Players wearing braces or other joint support devices equipment. Pending a rule clarification, the LIJSL Board of Directors have passed the following motion (September 19, 2002) to be in effect until the implementation of the rule clarification:
- A PLAYER CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN A MATCH WITH AN ORTHOPEDIC HARD CAST OR SPLINT.
- A PLAYER IS PERMITTED TO WEAR A BRACE OR OTHER JOINT SUPPORT DEVICE, PROVIDED THAT THE MATCH REFEREE HAS DETERMINED THAT IT IS NOT A DANGER TO HIMSELF OR ANOTHER PLAYER.
- THE DECISION OF THE MATCH REFEREE IN THESE INSTANCES SHALL BE FINAL AND SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO APPEAL UNDER RULE 6, PART 2.
